Music
Music ensembles and individual tuition form the backbone of the Music Department at OAGS. Professional tutors teach on site throughout the school day, guiding students in lessons and encouraging learning at their own pace. Through our co-curricular offerings, students can follow their own musical pathway to excellence in performance.
All students at OAGS are able to undertake individual tuition, inside or outside the school timetable.
Primary students can start learning a string, wind or brass instrument through our Beginner Programme. Through this they can start their musical journey and join a group for the first time. Once established they can join the Primary Concert Band or the Junior Strings. Singers can join one of the specialist choirs to extend their classroom experience.

Beginner Programme 2024
There are many educational and social benefits that come from learning a musical instrument. At OAGS, we would love to see as many students as possible take the opportunity to become involved in music.
OAGS offers three options for beginning musicians:
- Beginner Strings – for students in Years 1, 2 & 3 (violin & cello)
- Beginner Band – Years 3 to 6 (woodwind & brass)
- Other individual instrumental lessons such as piano, guitar & voice (open to all ages at the discretion of the tutor)
Parents of all music students taking lessons, joining ensembles or starting off their musical journey as a beginner can fill out the form below before commencing. This form includes details for instrument hire should it be required.
